“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

Actual rating: 3.5

First of all; I listened to this as an audio book and the narrator of this book was not the best choice. I felt like the guy was possibly a bit too old to read the voices of teenagers… And this might have influenced how I felt about the novel because with an audio book the narrator affects your opinion of the story a lot. So once I’ve finished listening to this series I might possibly pick it up as a proper book and read it again and then my idea of it might change.

The basics of this story intrigued me. I’ve got an interest in Welsh and Celtic history – and ley lines – so a book that focuses on that is bound to intrigue me a lot. And, in general, I did like the characters. And the language was good. However, I didn’t quite bond with any of the characters and for me to properly love a story I need at least one character that I’m invested in and want to find out the story of. In general this would mean a lower rating for me, but the historical stuff did keep me from doing that.

Thanks to that I hope I’ll find the following books even better and get more invested in the story than I currently am. Fingers crossed!
