Kind of disappointed in this after liking the Percy Jackson series a lot. I still love the writing and the mythological aspects and overall story, and the fact that this series will delve a bit more into Roman mythology and divinities older than the gods intrigues me. However I’m not yet a fan of the three new mains – except for Leo – and I miss the first person POV and the quirky chapter titles featured in the Percy Jackson books. Never thought I’d say that, but yeah, that’s a thing.
I also felt like this book was really, really long and drawn out and not as intense and fun as the Percy Jackson books. Not sure if I’m a fan of that yet – I usually do enjoy longer books but for this series I almost felt like the shorter format was better. Might change my mind once I get into The Son of Neptune – and yes, I will read (listen to) it, but might take longer until I get around to it than it did between the Percy Jackson books.
