This book is the kind of book that you should really read in one go, because once you put it down you might have trouble picking it back up again. Not because it’s bad, but because the moment you start to read you get trapped in the writing and by the characters and suddenly there’s been an hour or two and you’ve completely missed out on some other things that needed to be done.
This is a pattern that I’ve seen in all of the books in this series; they’re intense, there’s a hell of a lot going on and they pull you in and hold you there until the very end. However I did feel that this book was a bit more difficult for me to love than the previous one, due to that there are so, so, so many POV:s in this book and so many characters to keep track of and if you were forced to put it away for a while – which I was due to work – you forget several of those characters and it takes a while to get back into the story.
The story itself is brilliant and I found myself thinking several times that this would be a very interesting movie. The style is very much “written for a movie” as it is fast paced, with short chapters and the scenes shift right where they need to. Also I was very happy to see my ships pull through in the end – God, I was so worried for all of my babies!
Anyhow; good end to the story but could have been a smoother ride with less characters to keep track of.
