Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2)

Language: English
Rating: 5/5 stars

So this was one hell of an emotional roller coaster. It was so intense! I mean the only reason why I didn’t finish it right away was because of that I was afraid of turning the page and getting another heart attack!

So glad to not read a translated version now because the characters seemed a lot more real when depicted in English than in Swedish and I didn’t have to get annoyed with spelling and grammar mistakes… But yeah, enjoyed the story a lot and loved the setting and the characters and the new POVs (and the old ones). I did get confused with the time at some points because it’s not always told chronologically. But that’s probably the only negative thing about this book.

Especially the characters are incredible. Karou has developed so much since the beginning of the story and is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters ever. Akiva… still a bit annoying with a Prince Charming-complex but also seems to be hot enough for that to be ignored…

Then there’s Zuzanna and Mik (how cute can you get?) and Liraz and Hazael and… who else is on the good side of things?
Oh, and Ziri! ZIRI! Definitely a new fav of mine. I just want to keep him (in my bed, maybe) forever.

But there’s also the bad guys to take into account. The White Wolf – Thiago. Are there any words to describe him? I’m at a loss. Same for several of his followers. Didn’t care so much for the Emperor, but Jael certainly gave me the creeps.

Can’t wait to start the next book, but won’t have the time or the money to get it now in December. So it’s going to have to wait until 2016!
