There are events that might not affect you personally but you do feel them emotionally and you remember exactly where you were when you found out about these events. The assassination attempt on Malala Yousafzai is such an event for me. In this book Malala tells her story and the story of her country in a beautiful way and it’s impossible to not be pulled into the story, to close your eyes and try to imagine the Swat valley as it was before the Taliban came there, and as it became after that. You get a glimpse into the life of a young girl trying to get an education in a non-Western country, where different interpretations of a holy text can cause both discrimination, torture and death, in the 21st century.
A book that is highly recommended to everyone!
